As a Front-End Developer at CTI, you will work within our development team, taking mockups or wireframes from our designers and UX colleagues and producing well performing, semantic and accessible markup within the context of the relevant templating system.

Working with many of the UK’s prominent non-profit and public sector organisations, our high-calibre teams are committed to producing quality solutions and you will play a key role in facilitating their success.

CTI follow agile principles and have a keen focus on ensuring our technical infrastructure enables our teams to perform to their best. We will, of course, provide full training on our quality management and wider working practices. Before all of that: you can expect an informal interview, so we can see how you approach technical problems.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
  • Experience in using Sass, Postcss, or another CSS pre or post processor
  • Experience in using jQuery as well as an understanding of vanilla Javascript
  • Understanding of browser and device testing, debugging, and utilising developer tools
  • Understanding of web performance and optimisation
  • Experience of working in teams of both other front-end developers, and developers from other disciplines, and an understanding of how to write maintainable and well documented code that is understood by others
  • A strong grasp of version control using Git
  • An understanding of HTML semantics and how to write accessible code, ideally with some knowledge of WCAG and ARIA (not essential).
  • Experience with working from Invision or Photoshop mockups, as well as wireframes and prototypes
  • An eye for design and visual consistency
  • Experience with version and package management through npm/Yarn and Composer
  • A drive to continue the development their skills and informally supporting their colleagues

Other desirable traits include:

  • Experience with templating systems such as Drupal (Twig), Magento or Umbraco,
  • Experience or interest in modern Javascript frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular
  • A good understanding of the responsive planning, design and development process
  • Understanding of SEO concepts and considerations
  • Understanding of web security principles
  • Experience with task runners such as Gulp and Grunt, and bundlers such as Webpack
