A huge congratulations to our clients and colleagues over at England Squash and Basketball England for their performances at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games over the past week.

Commonwealth Games 2022 - Congrats Team England

We’re extremely proud to work with both national governing bodies (NGBs), and to play even a small part in national sporting successes. We’ve been cheering on our champions, and making sure that the digital stage is set for a growing interest in sport.

What England’s superstars have achieved

England Squash’s Gina Kennedy won gold in the women's singles on 3rd August (making history as the first English woman to do so). Sarah-Jane Perry took home bronze, then struck silver with partner Alison Waters on 8th August

James Willstrop and James Declan claimed gold in men’s doubles on 8th August, with Adrian Waller and Daryl Selby taking home bronze on the same day.

Meanwhile, the Basketball England men’s team scored gold, while the women’s team bagged silver, and the wheelchair players took home bronze.

We've been keenly involved in helping these important public sector organisations to get ready for the Games. This has meant making sure that their websites are visible, engaging, and ready to capture a new wave of interest in sport…

Our work with England Squash and Basketball England

From SEO to apps, getting England Squash Game-ready

England Squash approached Silverchip to help streamline their processes, engage the squash community and provide a more connected experience for all stakeholders.

Our mobile app and software developers took a multi-platform approach. By creating a network of tools and services to support every aspect of the sport, we allowed the NGA to take control of their content.

In addition, the CTI content team helped England Squash to align the quality of content across its national and local sites. As well as creating a more coherent customer journey, this also helped to maximise online visibility.

In the lead-up to the Commonwealth Games, England Squash wanted to make sure their network of sites was ready to capture traffic from new audiences. We created digestible training resources focused on quick wins for organic visibility. Through a series of short videos, we helped England Squash to empower a national network of squash clubs to optimise their websites. This played an instrumental part in unifying the national and local squash websites, reducing the disconnect and bringing the teams closer.

Relaunching the new and improved Basketball England brand

Our specialist brand comms team at Mosquito worked with Basketball England to relaunch their digital identity and services, and elevate their status as a world-class NGA. The all-inclusive creative campaign - #TogetherWeAreBasketbALL - has helped to unite players, referees, coaches and officials under a rejuvenated brand with one clear goal: championing the sport together.

We also created a central hub for overall club and team management, and its membership portal revenue is expected to surpass £1m this year.

Mosquito continues to build engagement with the ongoing development of the Basketball England Shop, and on Project Swish - an active campaign that encourages participation and brand loyalty.
