We were delighted to be recognised as one of the UK’s leading Digital Businesses in the recent prestigious Digital Entrepreneur Awards (DEAs).

Industry events, such as this, are numerous but the DEAs is actually one of our favourites as it honours entrepreneurial endeavour as well as online business excellence. In short, our sweet spot.

We may now be part of the Paperhat Group but our roots are firmly planted in an ethos based on being an entrepreneurial start up.

So what exactly are we talking about when we reference ‘entrepreneurial spirit’? To our minds it is about the way we manage our business – we may be a company of 65 people but, to a large degree, our mind-set retains the best elements of when we were starting out; namely that we:

  • Stay hungry for our clients
  • Use our initiative in all aspects of our work
  • Operate with agility
  • Remain aware that we are judged on the calibre of each project we complete and
  • Whilst a great reputation is a phenomenal asset, we need to work hard each and every day to retain it

‘Our’ category at the awards, a hotly contested one, was judged on results from the past 12 months, with the judges looking for year-round excellence. We secured a commendation based on our work for London Gatwick on ‘Gatwick Obviously’, the Mayor of London’s new website and the Verto ‘voter advice’ app, which was launched for the 2015 General Election.

By making us review our past year’s work, the DEAs did us a bigger service than simply recognising and celebrating our work. They reminded us that our entrepreneurial ethos is important to keep serving both ourselves and our clients as best we can.
